Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets struck energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the city endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and three other people were hurt.

The assaults follow periods of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
